Dr. Kim Benton, DDS, MPH, was raised in San Francisco, California. She attended UC Davis and Howard University for undergraduate training. She graduated from Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry in Nashville, TN in 1988. She has a strong family legacy of Physicians and Dentists that attended Meharry. Dr. Benton moved back to San Francisco in 1988 and practiced with her father Dr Henry Lucas for 10 years. In 1998 she ventured out on her own on start her own practice where she currently practices general dentistry 3 days/ week.

From 1994-2001, she was invited to join the faculty at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A Dugoni, School of Dentistry as a part-time clinical instructor. Dr. Benton returned to the Dental School in 2012. After completing her MPH @ Capella University in 2018, Dr Benton transitioned to the didactic side of education. She sits on the admission committee and was recently appointed the Director of the Pacific Health Care Collaborative. This is a new Health Care center that will bring together medical and dental education and services in the same space.

While pursuing her master’s in public health, Dr Benton’s Capstone project focused on Diabetes and the Oral Health Connection.

Professionally, Dr. Benton presented this information virtually with the San Mateo County Dental Society in August 2021 and in-person in San Francisco at the California Dental Association meeting in September 2021. Locally, Dr Benton presented at the Coalition of Black Excellence (CBE) addressing Wellness and Oral Health, The San Francisco Chapter of Links, Inc., Black Women Investors LLC and Hope Is on The Horizon Health Fair.

Dr. Benton is passionate about “spreading the word” to know your numbers and get screened or tested for Type 2 Diabetes. She encourages others to share this message. Type 2 Diabetes is completely preventable and, in some cases, reversible.

Dr. Dentonio Worrell, DDS, was born in Brooklyn, NY and emigrated to Barbados at the age of one. He spent his formative years there and returned to attend the State University of New York at Stonybrook at the age of 18. He graduated with a BSc in Applied Mathematics and Statistics in 2000 and matriculated at the University of Maryland Dental School.

Upon graduation with his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2004 he commissioned in the United States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and practiced as a General Dentist for 5 years before specializing in Endodontics at the Fort Bragg Endodontic Residency. He completed the program in 2011 and obtained board certification in 2012.

Dr. Worrell has held an Affiliate Faculty position at VCU Dental School and was a member of the 2018 American Dental Association ADA Institute for Diversity in Leadership and the 2019 American Association of Endodontics AAE Leader Development program. He is a current member of the AAE Practice Affairs Committee and a 2022 inductee in the International College of Dentists. Currently he serves as the Commander of the US Army Dental Health Activity- Hawaii and the Endodontic mentor in the Scofield Barracks Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency program.

He is the proud husband of Dr. Jentel Worrell and father of their 12-year-old daughter Summa and 10-year-old son Joel. He enjoys traveling, hiking, investing, volunteering and spending time with his family.

Dr./Major Brandon Jones, DDS, MS, ABGD, is from Oak Park, IL. He commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Army through the Health Professions  Scholarship Program shortly after obtaining his Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007. While in the Individual Ready Reserves, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, WI in 2012. Upon graduation he completed an 18-month assignment as a general dentist assigned to Fort Bliss Dental Command (DENTAC) prior to attending the Advanced Education in General Dentistry 2-year residency at Fort Hood, TX where he received his Masters of Science in Oral Biology. After completion of his residency program in 2016, he was then assigned to Fort Sill DENTAC as a 63B Comprehensive Dentist. In 2018, he completed a 4.5 month deployment with the 673rd Dental Company to Bagram, Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel. He returned from deployment and assumed responsibilities as the Officer in Charge of Cowan Dental Clinic at Fort Sill, OK.

MAJ Jones is a graduate of the U.S. Army Medical Department Basic and Advanced Officer Leadership Course, Command and General Staff College (ILE), Dental Management and Development Course, Junior Leader Course, and Iron Major Week. He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Conscious Sedation, and Forensic Dentistry. He is board certified through the American Board of General Dentistry and holds a dental license in Wisconsin. MAJ Jones is also a member of both the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.

His awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Star), Global War on Terror Medal, Army Service Medal, NATO medal, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold), Basic Recruiter Badge, and the Expert Field Medical Badge.

He is the Son of Steve and Denise Jones. His interests include fitness, sports, and spending time with friends and family.
