Second Annual Diversify Dentistry Youth Summit™ Returns to Kansas City to Inspire the Next Generation of Dental Professionals

KANSAS CITY, MO – April 11, 2025 – Diversity in Dentistry Mentorships, Inc. (DIDM) will host its second Diversify Dentistry Youth Summit™ on Friday, April 11, from 9:30 AM to 1:40 PM at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry.

The event will welcome 50 high school students from Kansas City Missouri Public Schools and Kansas City Kansas Public Schools, offering them a unique opportunity to explore careers in dentistry through interactive experiences and mentorship.

Dr. Joshua Golden, a practicing general dentist, mentor, DIDM Advisory Council Member, and DIDM Ambassador, is leading this important initiative to provide guidance and resources to emerging leaders in dentistry. The Summit will also feature mentors from across the country—including practicing dentists, UMKC dental students, and dental professionals from both local and national communities—who will guide students throughout the day’s activities.

Students will engage in hands-on lab sessions, attend presentations from dental professionals, and connect with mentors over a “Mentor Power Lunch.” The day will conclude with a special “White Coat Ceremony,” a symbolic moment celebrating each student’s first step toward a future in the oral health profession.

This initiative supports DIDM’s mission to expand the dental workforce by getting more students excited about careers in dentistry. Through hands-on experiences and mentorship, the Summit is designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and help young people envision themselves as future oral health professionals.
